David is a lively and socialable 16 year old boy who enjoys sporting activities such as football, cricket and most other competitive sports.

He developed Diabetes at the age of 2 years and Symptomatic Focal Epilespy at the age of 4 years.  Both his epilepsy and diabetes have been difficult to control and David experienced many injuries from uncontrolled tonic seizures, including broken bones.

At previous schools it was found difficult to manage both his epilepsy and diabetes and at David’s frustration restrictions where placed on his sporting activities.  This left David feeling isolated and unhappy and presented challenge’s with his behaviour.

When David joined St Elizabeth’s school he continued to have many seizures.

The health team focussing on his seizure control where able to review his pharmacological management and implement changes which brought about effective seizure control and he is now seizure free.

This has also helped with stabilising his Diabetes with less fluctuations in his blood sugar levels that where impacted on by frequent seizures.

David enjoys life at St Elizabeth’s and takes advantage of the community spirit and inclusive environment enabling to achieve his full potential both in sports, education and leisure.
