Over 15,000 Apples harvested at Apple Day!

Amazing weather on Saturday motivated enthusiastic apple collectors - from toddlers to those in their 90s - to help harvest our apple crop from our huge on-site orchard.

They could then either choose to buy their apples or donate them to our juicing project, which will create litres of pure apple juice which we can sell to help raise funding for St. Elizabeth's.

Visitors could sit and enjoy music from a local jazz group, shop from a number of produce and gift stalls, go glitter-mad at the kids corner and refuel at the refreshments stall, where hungry harvesters consumed over 200 slices of cake! We also showcased products made from our Enterprise projects, including fresh vegetables and flowers, jewellery, pottery, ceramics and printings.

It was great to see so many of our residents, learners and their families join in on the day, and to have such wonderful support from the local community. Thanks too to all our wonderful volunteers who spent their Saturdays helping us to run the event so smoothly.

Overall, we raised over £1,700 and collected over 15,000 apples - not bad for a day's work!
