Day Activities

We aim to enhance personal choice and help meet individual preferences by providing a wide menu of activities with plenty of different sessions to suit everyone. We believe this programme really improves the quality of life both for our clients and indirectly for their carers/families.

We have a tremendous variety of opportunities available, with over 40 leisure, therapeutic and study activities from which to choose. Various programmes of outings are also regularly organised for clients. In addition, St Elizabeth’s continues to host its ever popular Bull & Bush Social Club, with lively entertainment and activities arranged for most evenings.

Over 20 of our courses are held off campus. St Elizabeth’s has numerous vehicles, including wheelchair-friendly transport, to help all clients to enjoy opportunities that may be available in the community.

We review and consult with clients about our various programmes each summer before finalising the menu for the year ahead. Programmes run from September. Once the prospectus is finalised we consult with all clients again to try and get the best fit to meet their personal preferences, subject to demand and availability. (Under or over demand can affect the programme, whilst wheelchair accessibility or transport demands may impact on some off site activities.)

All residents are asked to detail eight first choices plus two reserve choices, and we can usually match most of these preferences to everyone’s individual programme. Residents each get a programme of eight sessions per week (normally two hours per session, each morning or afternoon), to include one shopping trip.

Occasionally routine programmes are replaced by other inclusive activities, eg for a Christmas party or to mark the special Feast Day of our patroness, St Elizabeth of Hungary. Alternative “eats, treats and entertainment” may be substituted on such days to enable residents, learners and day or respite clients to join with others and participate fully in any special celebrations being held across the Centre.
