Vocational Learning

SAM_0483.JPG

At St Elizabeth's College, vocational learning opportunities are an integral element of the curriculum offer. We work closely with external partners to enable a diverse range of work related learning activities.

Some examples of the types of vocational activities that learners undertake include:

  • Church Farm
  • Rainbow Rural
  • Birchanger Woods

We have also taken the lead in managing the Centre Shop. Learners manage the shop which is open three times a week, including serving customers, cash handling, stock taking and housekeeping, which provides a real life opportunity to develop customer service skills.

Learners are able to gain units of qualifications through these learning environments which help build a passport for each learner to take with them when they transition from the College.

The College has recently developed close working arrangements with Hertfordshire Connexions Service which has further enhanced our offer. Learners and Parents are able to access impartial information and careers guidance which assists informed choice towards their goals and aspirations. In addition we have secured work experience placements for some learners and are continuing to progress this important part of our curriculum.
