Welcome to our special school for epilepsy, autism and complex needs

Welcome from the Director of Education

Welcome to St Elizabeth’s School and Children’s Home. We are a specialist independent provider, offering education and care to children and young people with complex needs including epilepsy.

The school and children’s home are happy, welcoming places. Our aim is to help young people to grow in confidence as they acquire new knowledge and skills that support their independence, health and self esteem. Specialist teams work very closely together to map out a provision which meets individual needs. We pride ourselves on our strong multi-disciplinary team approach. Teachers, therapists, nurses and care and support staff work in partnership to enable an holistic approach to learning.

The curriculum is flexible and individualised so that it meets the often complex needs of our learners. For some young people, this can mean learning through therapeutic experiences such as lego, art and music therapy, sensory journey or aqua physiotherapy. For others this can encompass exposure to the world of work and vocational learning which enables a step into further learning at the age of 19. For all learners, there is a focus on developing independence as well as their physical, spiritual and emotional well-being.

You are welcome to read our most recent OFSTED reports which will give a flavour of what St Elizabeth’s can offer. However, we urge you to visit us to see what is so special and (we think) amazing about our school and children’s home.

I look forward to meeting you.
