'The joy of the Gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus' - Pope Francis

Pope Francis challenged the church to be outward looking full of hope and reminding us of his liberating love of Jesus and encouraging everyone to rediscover his core message. 

Pope Francis consistently championed dialogue as a alternative to conflict and misunderstanding. Encouraged by listening, respect and the search for truth and common ground.

He persistently called for people to break down walls of indifference and truly see each other. His emphasis on tenderness was a call to action rooted in empathy, reaching out, touching wounds and offering comfort. 

Pope Francis chose his papal name after St Francis of Assisi, known for his love of all animals and creatures on earth. He asks of us to recognise the importance of caring not just for each other but for the world we live in. He courageously linked the cry of the earth with the cry of the poor, weaving together environmental concern and social justice. He awakened consciences to care for our planet for future generations. 

Lord of creation we thank you for Pope Francis for his wisdom and courage in calling on us to protect our common home. Welcome him into your loving embrace and allow us to be given the same strength and determination to continue his passion for caring for humanity ad the earth as a common home. 

We ask Mary the mother of Jesus to be with Pope Francis and all those who mourn his passing. Lord God, we offer you our prayers asking you to guide us in every moment of our lives. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
