The main aim of the curriculum is to provide relevant opportunities for personal development and growth by the acquisition of skills that equip the learners to have greater control of their lives, reducing dependence and increasing fulfilment.
The innovatory nature of St Elizabeth’s College transition programme is fully reflected in the style of curriculum and its delivery with learning partnerships with local specialist secondary schools, charities, employers and voluntary organisations.
The programme is accredited through an Entry Level Life and Living Skills Qualification. Learners are assessed for units throughout the year both in Independent Living Skills and World of Work as well as more generic areas such as ICT and communication.
At St Elizabeth’s College there is a clear focus upon students experiencing the adult lifestyle to which they aspire. They learn by doing, with their rights and responsibilities as tenants being at the heart of their learning programmes.
