St Elizabeth's College is an independent, specialised learning environment for young people aged 19-25 with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities, including those with epilepsy and other complex needs.
At St Elizabeth’s College, each young person will have the opportunity to live and learn in a fully inclusive, safe and nurturing environment where differences are acknowledged, respected and valued – where abilities are recognised and achievement is celebrated. We respect and support learners of all faiths and learners with no faith or beliefs.
We are committed to supporting our learners to develop an understanding, through the demonstration of our behaviours and action, of our Christian and British Values. Our Catholic ethos is evident throughout College life, embedded into the curriculum and delivered through many of our lessons and experiences.
Learners’ spiritual wellbeing plays an important role in our holistic approach to learning, with opportunities to explore further: during reflection time, by attending acts of worship and joining in with a range of activities, should they wish.
The College offers a programme of development over a three-year period, which develops learners’ independent living skills; provides extensive work-related learning and work experience opportunities; and focuses on relevant English, mathematics and ICT skills. We offer a wide range of vocational and work placements, as well as regular trips to the local community to take part in social and leisure activities through long established community links. The College works under external accreditation which underpins the curriculum, but does not drive it. Our aim is to enable each learner to achieve their individual goals and potential.
An integral part of St Elizabeth’s, the College benefits from access to our outstanding therapy provision. Learners can be day students or can live in our suite of fully accessible bungalows with full-time staff support.
Transition planning is a central part of the College programme, with our staff proactively supporting our learners’ aspirations to move on to a range of supported living arrangements and to realise their dreams for a fulfilling life, which may include work placements, further learning and leisure activities.
Rated Good, with Outstanding elements in our most recent OFSTED inspection, St Elizabeth’s College is proud to offer specialist support that really focuses on the individual needs of each learner. It is a unique environment, where learners feel safe, valued and able to express themselves, and where they can develop at a pace that suits their goals.
