We have fully accessible outdoor gyms, a sports hall and sports pitches for our young people to enjoy, as well as indoor therapy facilities including sensory rooms and ball pools. We are lucky to be situated in a beautiful rural setting, perfect for walks, bike rides or just to explore! We have a 3-acre apple orchard, and run a specialist horticultural area with chickens and allotments.
Enrichment at Sixth Form includes visits to popular attractions both locally and nationally, based on both individual and group hobbies and interests. These visits take place throughout the year with the aim of providing additional opportunities to visit the community and explore their future pathways in more detail. We also welcome a host of visiting shows and experiences such as pantomimes, interactive music performances and drama sessions.
We have a fleet of vehicles used to accommodate a variety of outings.
Learners also participate in PDBA (Personal Development, Behaviour and Attitudes). This is an opportunity for learners to become more self-aware in their journey to adulthood. They are encouraged to become more mature, independent and confident, developing a sense of social justice and moral responsibility reflecting on how their choices and behaviour may affect others. They learn how to make better, more informed choices about their health and environment and take responsibility for their own learning.
Staff encourage learners to use their voice to shape their own and their peers experience of life at Sixth Form. A key part of this process is participating in Council meetings, meeting every half term. During the meetings, learners are supported to discuss important issues and topics, and cast votes on outcomes. Topics include Enrichment trips, Christmas activities, health and safety issues and safeguarding. Learners run democratic campaigns to become Chair each year, appealing for votes from their peers in order to take up the position. Safeguarding is at the centre of every meeting, with learners discussing how they feel at Sixth Form and during trips, and what makes them feel safe.
