"The close working relationship with parents, enables staff to have a better understanding of young people and the behaviours." OFSTED
St Elizabeth’s School highly values its relationships with parents and carers. We aim always to work in partnership with our parents to ensure the best possible provision for their child.
That partnership is underpinned by good communication in which –
- Parents are invited to and made welcome at whole school events e.g. musical performances, sporting activities and drama productions throughout the year.
- Parents have direct telephone and email access to all members of staff.
- There is a termly Parents’ Day where parents have the opportunity to meet with key staff. In spite of parents having to travel considerable distance these are very well attended.
- Multi disciplinary teams work with parents to agree and support consistent strategies within the waking curriculum.
- St Elizabeth’s Parents’ Forum meets three times a year. Parents are invited to discuss with the principal any matters of concern regarding their child.
- Two parents serve on the main governing body; consequently parents’ views are represented at every level.
School Parents Forum
Parents have developed their own group to share experiences and information with all parents and carers with children at St. Elizabeth’s School. The aim is to provide a forum, which is friendly, informative and helpful for all who wish to join.
The forum has formal terms of reference and is recognised by the governors and school as a group who want to work with the staff teams to make the time at school for their children as fulfilling and rewarding as possible.
An important part of the meeting is to bring forward issues, which parents feel need to be addressed, in a formal but friendly approach that is beneficial to all concerned. They also develop opportunities for parents and carers to meet formally by arranging talks on specific issues e.g. benefits and informally at gatherings such as the May Fun Day.
Parent’s Forum also fundraises for specific projects and smaller items that are required but not directly provided within the school budget. Past efforts have financed the adventure play area, go-karts and special bikes and numerous toys and equipment all of which have enriched children's lives.
Meetings are held three times a year and are usually incorporated within the school parent days. These dates are listed on the Calendar page. The Parents’ Forum welcomes all comments, suggestions and new members and hopes to see new friends at their next meeting.
