Father John Gray

Fr John was a chartered accountant in practice until he was 35, when he was accepted into training for the priesthood. He studied at the Beda College in Rome prior to being ordained in 1984, and spent the following five years as an Assistant Priest. In 1989 Fr John became a full time Prison Chaplain working at Pentonville, Holloway, Liverpool and Wormwood Scrubs, a total of 10 years in the prison service. He then moved to St Joseph’s in Wembley before settling in Ware in 2006. Fr John retired to Lancashire in September 2018, but maintains his connection with the local area, and therefore will continue as a Trustee for St Elizabeth’s.
