World Environment Day 2019

World Environment Day 2019

World Environment Day is the United Nations day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment. Since it began in 1974, the event has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries.

World Environment Day is the "people's day" for doing something to take care of the Earth. That "something" can be local, national or global. It can be a solo action or involve a crowd.

Despite the rain, our School students, College learners, Adult residents, Adult day clients and staff turned out to take a walk around the Centre, learning more about recycling, the environment and what we can do to do our bit for the planet.

As one of the biggest employers in Hertfordshire and with over 200 residents, it's important we learn more about what we can do to reduce our carbon footprint, as well as look after our 68 acres of land!

Our School students and College learners created some fantastic pieces of artwork all made from recyclable materials. Our Adults all work with organic produce in Ashvale, and helped make some compost to be used in future.
