Eye Gaze Technology Positive living and learning for people with epilepsy and other complex needs

Eye Gaze Technology

We supported one of our non-verbal residents to improve his communication, by using a communication book and "Eye Gaze", an electronic technology which uses eye direction to indicate his wants and emotions. Stickers on his electric wheelchair are used to help identify what he wishes to communicate – e.g. needing to use the toilet or wanting a drink. All these techniques are shared in his care plan document and with staff, so that anyone working with him is able to understand when he is communicating.
