Lent at St Elizabeth's

Lent at St Elizabeth's

The St Elizabeth’s Community has been preparing and learning about the journey of Lent through creatively making our own ashes and reflective assemblies.  Our School and College learners came together to use the traditional container in our Chapel to burn the ashes from last year’s palms.

Ash Wednesday is traditionally a day of quiet preparation for the coming sacrifices of Lent and Easter.  Thankfully here at St Elizabeth’s we are never too quiet when we are joined together in the Chapel for Mass to appreciate the joy and beauty of life, it is witnessed in our learners and amazing staff!  A special thank you to both School and College staff for always supporting the ethos of St Elizabeth’s and ensuring our learners experience the values that sustain our centre.  We were blessed with the remarkable musical talents of Adam’s guitar playing and Alex, as always, on point with signing and organising.

Wishing you all a reflective and peaceful Lent.

Events to come: Stations of the Cross, Reconciliation and Reflections Walk.

Easter Week: Services TBC at our local Parish St Joseph and the English Martyrs.

The Church needs your enthusiasm, generosity and zeal in order to show everyone that God is always with us, in every circumstance of life. I pray that, in the various educational and charitable apostolates in which you are already engaged, you will always be signs of a Church that goes forth, bearing witness to and sharing the merciful love of Jesus with all in the human family, especially the poor and those in need.” (Pope Francis)

This is the 2nd week of Lent - "In addition to the Scriptures, the Lord speaks to us through our brothers and sisters, especially in the faces and the stories of those who are in need." - Pope Francis, Lent 2023 (https://cafod.org.uk/pray/prayer-resources/pope-s-lent-2022-message)
